ANOTHER NEW SHOW BITES THE DUST

The broadcast TV networks are showing little inclination to allow new television shows that perform poorly upon their debut to get more than a second chance to prove themselves. Earlier this week, ABC said that it was canceling the new drama Lucky 7 after two episodes following poor ratings and even poorer reviews. Also this week, Fox announced that it was canceling the animated Murder Police before it even went on the air. And on Wednesday, CBS dropped the comedy We Are Men after two episodes. The New York Times said that it will be replaced on Mondays with Mike and Molly beginning Nov. 4. Meanwhile, it was not a good night for NBC’s revived Ironside. The drama, starring Blair Underwood in the role originated by Raymond Burr, was the lowest-rated program on network television Wednesday night, drawing just 5.2 million viewers.
