RUSSIAN FILM MAKES STRONG DEBUT OVERSEAS

Overseas, Gravity also dominated this past weekend with $28 million from 39 markets. But Stalingrad made an impressive debut in Russia and Ukraine, raking in $15.5 million, putting it in second place as a result of ticket sales in those two countries alone. Universal’s Despicable Me 2 added $10.1 million to its total from 41 markets, bringing its foreign gross to $522 million. Combined with the $363 million that it has earned domestically, its worldwide gross now stands at $885 million. Another animated family film, Sony’s Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2, came in fourth overseas with $9.1 million from 33 markets.
