A British TV commercial for the Beats Pill, a wireless speaker, featuring Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines” music, has been yanked from daytime programming in the U.K. following a directive by the Advertising Standards Authority. The regulator said that it had received 97 complaints about the ad and agreed with those that complained about “sexually suggestive scenes.” Britain’s Guardian newspaper observed today (Thursday) that “Blurred Lines” has also been banned at several universities after complaints by “student leaders” that it encourages sexual harassment, “rape culture and lad banter.”
