TED TURNER HAS HIGHER REGARD FOR MURDOCH THAN FOR TIME WARNER

Apparently CNN founder Ted Turner has mellowed on Rupert Murdoch in recent years. Turner, who once called Murdoch “the most dangerous man in the world” and a “warmonger,” noted in an interview with Fortune magazine that Murdoch is still dangerous because “he’s got the most power.” And he’s using it. “He bought the Wall Street Journal. I don’t know how he’s doing with it financially, but it’s a better paper with him running it than it was before, in my opinion. And you know, you don’t see Time Warner acquire anything. All they’ve done is spin things off.” Turner, who remains Time Warner’s biggest shareholder, a result of his sale of Turner Broadcasting to the conglomerate in 1996, quipped that the highpoint of his career was being named Man of the Year by Time magazine. “That shows how screwed up Time Warner is. I’m the only Time Man of the Year who worked for them.”
