Brad Pitt has given the English village of Shirburn in Oxfordshire £1 million ($1.6 million) in appreciation for its allowing him to film scenes for his WWII movie Fury in the town, the London Daily Mail reported today (Tuesday). “Instead of sending a simple thank you card, Hollywood heartthrob Brad decided to pay his respects to the villagers by giving them the astonishingly large payout to ease any headaches he caused,” the newspaper observed. Co-producer Ethan Smith was quoted as saying, “We know that filming in a close-knit community over seven weeks can at times present some challenges for the residents but we appreciate our mutual business relationship.” Earlier news reports had quoted complaints from residents of the town about the noise from explosions, gunfire, and massive tanks during the filming.
