After garnering its best Thursday-night ratings in four years (for non-sports programming) with The Sound of Music Live!, NBC announced on Wednesday that it will roll out the musical two more times, on Saturday, December 14, when it will repeat the live telecast for anyone who didn’t record it on their DVR, and on Sunday, December 22, when it will air the original movie version of the 1965 film that starred Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer. That telecast will account for all four hours of primetime on the only day of the week that primetime includes a fourth hour. The film is one of the few musicals ever to receive a best picture Oscar and won four other awards, including one for Robert Wise who directed and produced the movie.
