U.K. PHONE HACKING TRIAL VIEWS SECURITY-CAMERA FOOTAGE

January 15, 2014 by · Leave a Comment

Jurors hearing testimony in the case of former News International officials accused of phone hacking and perverting the course of justice have been shown security-camera footage of Charlie Brooks, the husband of former NI chief Rebekah Brooks and the company’s security chief Mark Hanna allegedly trying to hide computers and documents from police in the garage of an apartment building where the couple lived. The footage was taken on July 17, 2011, the days Rebekah Brooks was arrested. The footage also showed NI security contractor Daryl Jorsling taking a black bag out of the trunk of his car and returning without it but later handing over two pizza boxes to an unidentified man. Prosecutors then told how Jorsling had afterwards sent a text message to a colleague saying, “Broadsword calling Danny boy. pizza delivered and the chicken is in the pot.”
