It’s the opposite of love that’s endless in the critics’ reviews of Endless Love, starring Alex Pettyfer and Gabriella Wilde. It has received not a single positive review among the major newspaper critics. A few of the descriptors that they dish out: “A Jaw-dropping groanfest” — Steven Rea, The Philadelphia Inquirer; “Uninteresting,” Rafer Guzmán, Newsday; “Inane,” Peter Keough, The Boston Globe; “Maintains a bland, glum prettiness,” Michael Phillips, The Chicago Tribune; “Flatly generic,” Joe Neumaier, New York Daily News. Several reviews are less disparaging and are simply dismissive. “Endless Love is not a very good movie, but it is fairly harmless,” comments Peter Hartlaub in the San Francisco Chronicle. What the movie offers, comments Stephanie Merry in the Washington Post, is “a Valentine’s Day release date and kissing. Lots of kissing. Kissing in place of character development and dialogue, even entire kissing montages where a meaningful plot should be.”
