You no longer have to be a Netflix subscriber to watch season one of House of Cards. If you’re a Comcast customer, you can now buy the series through Comcast’s Xfinity Store. The availability of the Emmy Award-winning series came about as the result of a deal between the No. 1 cable service and Sony Pictures, which handles distribution of the series on home video. Comcast will also be able to add other titles from Sony to its “early electronic sell-through” platform, which allows its subscribers to purchase or rent movies and TV shows ahead of their release on home video. The Comcast-Sony deal was announced today (Monday) by Comcast chief Neil Smit at Deutsche Bank’s 2014 Media Internet and Telecom Conference in Palm Beach, FL.
