Need for Speed may have sputtered domestically, but it revved up in 41 markets overseas with $45.6 million — $21 million from China alone. Likewise, 300: Rise of an Empire more than doubled its North American take as it brought in $41.3 million in 63 markets. Somewhat surprisingly, Mr. Peabody & Sherman, which jumped to No. 1 at home, managed to collect just $15.3 million abroad in 62 markets. Cutting into its earnings, no doubt, was the continued success of Disney’s Frozen, which added another $10.4 million to its international gross, raising it to $630.2 million.
