CANNES VISITORS CAN NOW BOOK A PRIVATE PLANE TO PARIS VIA UBER

Uber, the company that makes relatively low-cost drivers available to its users at the tap of an icon on their smartphone, has added airplanes to its service during the Cannes Film Festival. Partnering with Goodwill, a French charter-airplane service, Uber has included a plane option on its app during the festival that gives users the opportunity to request a plane trip for up to four persons from Cannes to Paris for 6,490 euros, or $8,390. They’ll be picked up at their hotel in Cannes, driven to the airport in Nice, flown to Paris on a Citation Mustang, and then delivered to their hotel or residence in the French capital. Uber, by the way, is doing land-office business at Cannes given a transportation strike affecting bus and taxi services that went into effect today (Wednesday).
