Diane Sawyer’s sometimes combative interview with Hillary Clinton was watched by a respectable 6.1 million viewers on Monday, but most of them were older than the 18-24-year-old viewers that advertisers seek. Clinton’s first interview, aimed at promoting her latest book Hard Choices, drew only a 1.0 rating and a 3 share and was beaten by every other network program in the 9:00 p.m. hour, including NBC’s American Ninja Warrior (1.7/5); Fox’s 24: Live Another Day (1.6/5); and CBS’s Mike & Molly (1.2/4). Several critics praised Sawyer for her aggressive questioning and comments (after Clinton sidestepped a question about she sould have been doing more to make the American embassy in Benghazi safe, Sawyer remarked, “I wonder if people are looking for a sentence that begins from you, ‘I should have.”
