X-MEN SEQUEL STRONG OVERSEAS

June 2, 2014 by · Leave a Comment

The X-Men sequel couldn’t pour cold water over Disney’s witchy woman overseas, but it performed more impressively than it did at home. Maleficent may have earned $100.6 million in its debut, but in its second week, X-Men: Days of Future Past collected $95.6 million from 75 markets, to lift its worldwide gross after ten days past $500 million. Opening early overseas (to get out of the way of the upcoming World Cup madness), the latest Tom Cruise sci-fi thriller, Edge of Tomorrow brought in $20 million in just 28 markets. It expands to 54 markets next week, including such lucrative markets as China, Russia, Mexico, France and Australia. (It’s also due to open in the U.S. next week.) Seth MacFarlane’s A Million Ways To Die In The West opened n 21 markets on the same day that it did in North America, where it drew $10 million.
