Time was when compilation discs of oldies music were sold mostly on late-night TV infomercials ("You’ll get 30 hits from the ’60s, and, if you act now, you’ll get 30 more from the ’70s, all at the unbeatable price of…") Now, thanks to the popularity of the superhero film Guardians of the Galaxy, "Awesome Mix Vol. 1," a compilation of ’70s recordings featured in the movie, has landed at No. 1 on Billboard magazine’s Top 200 album chart — for the second week in a row. It sold 93,000 copies last week, according to Nielsen SoundScan. In second place (for the second consecutive week, also) was another compilation disk, this one featuring current hits: "Now That’s What I Call Music!" It sold 52,000 copies.
