The Chinese comedy blockbuster Breakup Buddies, the sequel to the 2012 hit Lost in Thailand, quickly took in nearly $100 million worldwide after being released on China’s National Day holiday Sept. 30. Over the weekend it took in $38 million. It was also released in Australia and New Zealand — and in the U.S. at 20 theaters, where it earned $240,000 — a solid $12,000 per theater. Coming in second overseas was the Bollywood feature Bang Bang, which opened with about $25.4 million, edging out David Fincher’s Gone Girl with $24.6 million from 39 markets. Two horror films rounded out the top five overseas, with Dracula Untold collecting $21 million and Annabelle following with $20 million.
